Ngilu In Turkey To Give Keynote Address At Women International Network caucus

Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu has travelled to Ankara, Turkey where she has been invited to be one of the guest speakers at International Forum of Women in Local Government.

The day marks and celebrates the rights and gains that women have made in Turkey under the AK Party leadership, which has seen the percentage of women deputies in Turkey’s Parliament increase from 4.4% in 2002 to the current 17%.

Justice and Freedom Party or AKP is the ruling party founded by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, President and Head of State of the Republic of Turkey, and he is expected to grace the event where Governor Ngilu gives her address.

Governor Ngilu is expected to share on her experience as one of few women in Kenya who have made a mark in leadership in Kenya, on her success and on the challenges women face in their bid to get into political space.

The Governor will also make recommendations on how to further increase women involvement in leadership.

The Governor will also use the forum to invite Turkish investors to invest in Kitui and share with them opportunities available in Kitui County.
