Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu will today host a high powered delegation from the Ministry of Defense led by the Defense Cabinet Secretary Dr Monica Juma.
The team will be visiting Kitui County to explore the possibility of setting up military training facilities in parts of the expansive County.
Kitui County already hosts the Border Police Unit Headquarters and an advanced regional training campus at Kanyonyoo, within the expansive Yatta B2 Ranches.
Governor Ngilu and local leaders are enthusiastic about the possibility of setting up military facilities along the eastern border of Kitui County which could open up the expansive area to infrastructure development and increased security for residents.
The Kitui border with Tana County has for a long time been a flashpoint for armed conflicts between neighbouring communities, which could end of the military sets up bases within the region.

In tomorrow’s visit Governor Ngilu will take the Cabinet Secretary and her team through a survey of the region which will take them to
Mutha in Kitui South, Malalani, Engamba and Kandolongwe in Kitui East, as well as Sosoma, Katumba and Mandongoi in the far eastern part Mwingi.
Later they will meet with elected leaders and grassroots representatives at Ukasi in Mwingi Central Sub County.
