The governor Ngilu delivered her first county address Speech since she was elected the county governor.
It is a great honour for me to rise in this Assembly to deliver my first state of the County Address. Indeed it is an honour for me to deliver this inaugural address in the new chamber that we opened just a month ago.
As I noted then this new chamber gives us the people of Kitui County a dignified place from where we articulate some of the important matters affecting our County. Once again Mr. Speaker I congratulate the great effort you put into making this chamber is reality.
Beyond this Mr. Speaker, the county assembly is an important counterpart to the county Executive in conceptualizing and driving the development agenda of this county. The legislative and oversight roles that you play ,and which are indeed assigned to you by the constitution of Kenya in Chapter Eleven.
The efficiency and responsiveness of this Assembly in discharging its duties has a direct impact on the effectiveness of my Executive in delivering services to the people of Kitui County. It is for this reason that we must at all times seek better relations between the county Executive and the Assembly. Mr. Speaker sir, when we work together, Kitui works better and develops.
Mr. Speaker,I must thank you and the honourable members that we have worked together harmoniously putting the interests of our people above personal or political considerations. We have therefore achieved a lot within a short period of time, and we will certainly achieve a lot more.
