The Governor through her official social media said, “I remember former President Daniel Arap Moi as a statesman who provided leadership to ensure peace and harmony in our great country. We also remember him for his magnanimity when he graciously gave way for the advent of multiparty democracy.
The change of guard in 2002 that was widely acclaimed and celebrated across the world will forever be a hallmark in Mzee Moi’s legacy. Any leader who hands over power peacefully must be remembered and celebrated for that legacy.
To Senator Gideon and the entire Moi family, my heartfelt condolences. May God give you the strength and fortitude to overcome this loss. Mzee has rested.
