Ngilu commissions Kitui’s Mithikwani in Kitui West as a Mining site

Governor Charity Ngilu has today commissioned Mithikwani area, Kitui West sub county as a copper mining site.

While addressing residents in the area, during the ground breaking session for the start of mining, the Governor restated her commitment to use the county’s available resources to create wealth.

She confirmed the county government’s focus on poverty eradication saying the county had all the factors of production and good leadership that would contribute hugely towards achieving her five-pillar manifesto.

Mrs Ngilu said her government had reached adequate preparations for the activity calling on residents to protect the copper belt area.

The Governor said Kitui was advantaged to have copper mining begin at a time when mining of the commodity was collapsing and that investors were focusing on Kenya most specifically Kitui.

She advised leaders against empty rhetoric urging them to support her development plan for Kitui.

The County Executive Committee Member for Environment and Natural Resources Mr. John Makau said the mining will be a milestone for the county saying there’d be improved economy through job creation in the area.
