Nairobi.Her Excellency Governor Charity Ngilu and Health Cabinet Secretary Sicily Kariuki has today signed an Intergovernmental Partnership Agreement (IPA) between the National Government and Kitui County Governemnt in readiness for the Universal Health Cover rollout.

The partnership will see the county government working together with the National Government work towards realization of universal healthcare, one of the big 4 Agenda in the President’s manifesto.

The partnership will see Kitui County benefit with Human resources support and development, Supply of Essential medicines, non-pharmaceuticals and laboratory supplies, Supply and installation of basic equipments which include; maternity and laboratory equipments for health centres and dispensaries.

It will also see Setting up of community Health Units that will encompass setting up of Community Health Volunteers and provision of Kits and Technical support by the National government.

This will be a major boost to the already existing Kitui County Health Insurance Cover KCHIC, which have seen over 120,000 families subscribing to the program since it’s launch on 21st August 2018.

In attendance were the Ministry of Health Administrative Secretary Dr.Rashid Aman, and Health Chief officer Dr. Muthoka.
