Nairobi based Human rights activist Boniface Mwangi has been released unconditionally few hours after being arrested by detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigation( DCI).
Kenyans on Twitter(Kot) had weighed in on the arrest of Mwangi initiating the hashtag # FreeBoniface Mwangi.
Detective had accused the fearless activist of organising a revolution against the Jubilee government
Confirming his release Mwangi, promised Kenyans that he won’t be giving up on the fight for good governance arguing that revolution is not treason.
“Thank you, everyone, for your voices.
I have been released.Kenyans are angry ,hungry and broke .They feel like revolting against bad governance and corruption and the government is afraid its going to happen.
Revolution is not treason.” he wrote .
Mwangi was arrested Monday afternoon for what is suspected to be organizing a revolution against president Uhuru Kenyatta government.
His arrest comes barely a week at another activist Waithera popularly known as Bettie wa Shiro was arrested after being part of the red vest movement protest that was championing against runaway corruption in the country.
Boniface Mwangi was part of those who were on the front line pushing for Waithera’s release from Central Police station.
