My one year in office is already a success despite hurdles — Ngilu

Governor Charity Ngilu has termed her one-year period in office as a great success despite a myriad of challenges facing residents in the county.

Speaking in a radio interview {County Fm} today morning, the Governor said great strides had been achieved in her five years plan with water, youth and health sectors being key beneficiaries of her one year stay in office.Ngilu said she seeks to improve health, agriculture, infrastructure, tourism, manufacturing, trade and investment, and empower men, women and the youth to be self-sustaining.

She said she was committed to fulfil the promises she made to the people of Kitui by delivering on her governments mandate,Ngilu cited extensive health reforms in Kitui, She said there are more drugs in hospitals, CT scans and modernization of the hospital’s outpatient departments.

She said the county had constructed a ward in the county’s referral hospital* and is expanding service delivery to all.Through the Kitui County Health Insurance Cover {K=CHIC} registration campaign,at a cost of sh1000, residents can access medical treatment at no extra fees.“Our aim is to improve health standards and make healthcare accessible to all,” said Ngilu.She said the county textile centre {KICOTEC} launched this year has created jobs for the youth.

“The now operational KICOTEC will be an avenue for youth empowerment and job creation, she said.She said the county had changed the style of politics — from empty rhetoric to politics of development.

“The focus is to deliver on promises and improve standards of living”. She said.
