MWINGI FINALLY GETS MUNICIPALITY CHARTER

Mwingi will now be municipality thanks to the Kitui county assembly For adopting the report.

The report by the Committee on Lands, Infrastructure and Urban Development on Consideration of the Mwingi Municipal Charter has been adopted by the Assembly today.

The report was moved by the Chair of the Committee, Hon. Geoffrey Mwalimu (Ikutha MCA) and seconded by Hon. Boniface Katumo (Kyangwithya West MCA).

The House consequently resolved that Mwingi Town be conferred the status of Municipality by H.E. Charity Ngily, the Governor of Kitui Country forthwith.

“By grant of a Charter with the proposed amendments in accordance with provisions of Section 9(1) of the Urban Areas and Cities Act of 2011(the Principal Act), the Urban Areas and Cities (Amendment) Bill, 2017 and the Urban Areas and Cities (Amendment) Act, 2019.
