The proposed constitutional amendments through the Building Bridges Initiative has thrown many politicians in a limbo.
Wiper Party seems to be keen on the pro & cons even before the constitutional amendment bill is brought to the people.
Makueni politics is now the epi centre of Kalonzo’s attention as BBI changes the rules of the game.Word has it that Former Vice President has laid down a post BBI strategy to tighten his grip of votes in Lower Eastern politics.
Musyoka is strategically positioning his close men to contest for key positions in the region. Makueni County is the stronghold of Wiper in Kenya and the home to his Ukambani arch-rival Kibwana.
Among his objectives is to ensure that the Party clinches 100% of all elective seats in Makueni. The special envoy to Southern Sudan is keen to take control of County Politics which has been in control of former Wiper chairman Kibwana.
Despite being a Wiper zone it has been a challange for Wiper elected leaders in Makueni to silence the defiant governor. It took the effort of Musoma a former Makueni Constituency aspirant to tame the profesor of law. Musoma is undoubtfully Wiper’s Mr. Fix-it and he enjoys a good relationship with the Party Leader.
It is not an issue of if but when the BBI proposed changes will be effected and Makueni County is expected to get two extra MPs.
Makueni being the most populated constituency will become multiple member constituency and to observe the 2rd gender rule Wiper is championing for a man and a woman.
Wiper has asked Makueni MP Daniel Maanzo who wanted to vie as Senator to defend his seat for a second time so that he can bid for cabinet minister position and Musoma not be on ballot as anticipated.
Wiper is considering Wavinya Nzioka who came second in the Women Rep race in 2017 to be their female MP in Makueni Constituency but Susan Kiamba who was Maanzo’s close competitor on Kibwana’s Muungano Party ticket in 2017 is courting Wiper.
County Diary has estamblished that Musoma has been requested to contest the Speakers position as Wiper has always enjoyed a majority in Makueni County Assembly.
Wiper wants 2022 political seats to be accord on account of Party Loyalty especially in Makueni where it’s strength is at stake.
