Things are looking up for Kitui township ward residents who yesterday staged a demo against Chinese Sinohydro Co. that has been accused of polluting River Mutendea and surrounding environment.
After the demo that was led by Hon Ndoo, the MCA together with a community team led by Francis Katana secured meeting with the governor to present their grievances.
The Meeting was held at the Governers office from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm where Ndoo insisted that his voters will not budge until the Chinese company adheres to people’s demands on zero pollution of water sources as well as elimination of air pollution occasioned by a crusher at Mutendea.
The locals have also demanded tarmacking of Mutendea – Syongila rd.
A 2nd Meeting has been scheduled for tomorrow between the governor, Hon Ndoo, Kenha & Sinohydro to find a lasting solution.
“There is no shortcut. My people must be respected and served well” the MCA said.
