Kitui Governor Dr Julius Malombe on Monday 20th March 2023 flagged off the second Assorted Medical drugs and none Pharmaceutical consignment to be distributed in all health centers.
Speaking at the function, the Minister for Health Minister Madam Ruth Koki reiterated the governor’s commitment to prioritize healthcare in Kitui county.
The County Ministry of Health and Sanitation placed an order to KEMSA worth Kshs113 million.
A consignment worth Ksh81.5million translating to 72 Percent fill rate has been delivered. A balance of Ksh31.5 million translating to 28 Percent of commodities will be delivered.
A commitment to deliver the balance within three weeks’ time has been made. The Ministry of Health and Sanitation has negotiated with KEMSA for allocation of an additional consignment worth Ksh3.5 million from the National Government.
In his speech during the flagging off drugs and medical supplies at the County Referral Hospital today, Kitui Governor Dr Julius Malombe (EGH) has said his administration will prioritize the completion and operationalization of the Kitui County Referral hospital’s Outpatient Wing.
The Deputy Governor Hon Augustine Kanani Said the Government will be initiating the performance contracts to all healthcare givers as well as handing promotion letters to the officers, the TCD digital reports.
The ceremony was attended by County Ministers, Chief officers, and hundreds of Medical fraternities at Kitui referral hospital out patients grounds.
Over 15 Members of the County Assembly led by the chairman of the assembly Heath committee hon MCA sila of Mwingi Central graced the event.
The Governor asked those who wanted to join the azimio demonstrators in Nairobi to do so as well as respecting those who don’t want to demonstrate.
The County Government will ensure the seamless provision of healthcare services to the people of Kitui, the County Government is committed:
Malombe to recruit 10 community health volunteers (CHVs) per village totaling 2,470 for the 247 villages in our efforts to enhance primary health of preventive and promotive health care. This does not mean curative health care is forgotten and is the reason why we are flagging off the consignment
Kitui to Establish Teaching and Referral hospitals in both Kitui and Mwingi, Continuous upgrading of healthcare facilities.
Establish modern maternity facilities in each Level (II) and Level (III) hospitals. Equipping of maternity units in selected healthcare facilities
Construction of the Nzamba Kitonga Memorial Hospital in
Mutitu/Kaliku among others.
