Kitui youth graduates with Applied skills

Kitui County graduate youths benefits with applied skills training on business process outsourcing (BPO) and online academic research.

Governor Charity Kaluki Ngilu has urged graduate youths from KItui County to fully embrace online academic research Work which will directly contribute to youth development and wealth creation.

This message was conveyed by CEC for Education, ICT and Youth development Mr. David Kivoto when he awarded certificates to 30 graduate youths (drawn from all the 8 Sub- Sub- Counties), after an intensive training on online academic research work.

Speaking during the same occasion, Dr. Temi Mutia, the Value Addition Specialist in the Office of the Governor who was also the convener of the training told the trainees that, according to online data released in May 2018, BPO services generated a whopping *USD 144.9 Billion* worth of revenues worldwide while at the same time creating jobs to hundreds of thousands of graduate youths, worldwide.

However, ONLY youth from South East Asian Countries, have been benefiting from these opportunities with Egypt and South Africa being the leading BPO destins in Africa.

Addressing the fellow trainees, Mr. Julius Mulei popularly known as Laaz, a graduate in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from the Technical University – Mombasa and the Chairman of the group said that the trainees have transformed themselves into a team which they have named *“The KItui Electronic Hub”* (K.E. Hub) and are targeting to ensure that by the end of 2019, a total of *500 graduate youths* from Kitui County will be earning descent livelihoods from the online, with a projected gross earnings of Kshs.10Million per Month.

The three main types of BPO Services include;
1. Knowledge Process Outsourcing ( KPO)
2. Legal Process Outsourcing (LPO)
3. Research Process Outsourcing (RPO)

Mr. Mulei further informed the workshop that, at the moment, K.E Hub will target Academic Research work but in future will explore the possibilities of incorporating all the other types of BPO in their work.
