Kitui South MP Dr. Racheal Kaki Nyamai on Thursday joined a host of leaders, including Hon. Vincent Musyoka Musau (Mwala MP), Hon. Joshua Mwalyo (Masinga MP), and Hon. Nimrod Mbai (Kitui East MP), in a major empowerment event for bodaboda riders at Kyusyani, Kitui Rural.
The initiative, which brought together hundreds of youth from the transport sector, aims to enhance their livelihoods by equipping them with key business skills and resources to strengthen their operations.
Speaking during the event, Dr. Nyamai emphasized the importance of youth empowerment, noting that the bodaboda sector remains a vital pillar of the local economy.
“We are committed to empowering our young people so they can grow sustainable businesses and improve their lives. Empowerment begins when we give our people tools and knowledge to succeed,” she said.
The leaders also drummed up support for President William Ruto, with Dr. Nyamai leading a spirited “two-tam” slogan ahead of the President’s expected tour of Kitui County later this month during the Mashinani Day Celebrations.
The event underscored growing collaboration among Ukambani leaders in championing grassroots empowerment and aligning with the national government’s development agenda.
The event drew enthusiastic participation from local residents, youth groups, and women’s organizations, who lauded the MPs for prioritizing development and job creation.
Many riders expressed optimism that the empowerment initiative would open doors to financial stability and expand opportunities for small-scale entrepreneurs in the region.
Dr. Nyamai further reaffirmed her commitment to working with like-minded leaders to ensure equitable development across Kitui South and beyond.
She called on the youth to remain focused, disciplined, and innovative, promising to continue advocating for more government programs that directly benefit the people at the grassroots level.
