KITUI SCHOOLS SET FOR UNICEF PERSONAL HYGIENE DRIVE

The County Government of Kitui under the Ministry of Health in collaboration with the United Nations Child Education Funds, UNICEF, have embarked on a personal hygiene drive in Primary schools across Kitui County.

This was highlighted during a meeting between Chief Officer for health Dr. Richard Muthoka’s and a UNICEF team led Mr. Charles Mutai.

Speaking shortly before officially releasing the team to the various schools, Dr. Muthoka commended the teams efforts to enhance health conditions within the county and committed to ensure total cooperation from the health officers in all facilities across the county.

This comes after Kitui County was declared free of Open air defacation, an issue historically deemed a major challenge towards proper health conditions country wide.

The team will visit Kangalu, Kaveta and Unyaa primary schools and also KyambiKitonKitooni villages in efforts to enhance personal hygiene and proper hand washing techniques.

Among those in antecedence was Fatuma Ngesa and other county health officials.
