Kitui Ndengu Farmers To Benefit from 20 tonne-Certified Seed donation

Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu today received 20 tonnes of ndengu seeds (green grams) from the World vision through Absa Bank that will be distributed to 2450 farmers in the county in line with the first agenda of food and water under her development plan.

The initiative seeks to support farmers through farm inputs to boost the county’s efforts towards sustaining a food secure county.

In her remarks, Governor Ngilu reassured her support for the farmers in ensuring they continue reaping from the success of the program.

World Vision Kenya National Director Lilian Dodzo said the organization will continue partnering with Kitui County in the poverty elimination journey.

“As part of our focus, I wish to affirm our commitment to continue working closely with partners like Kitui Government and ABSA to continue bettering the future of the people”. She said.

Absa Regional Corporate Director for East Africa James Agin said the bank will explore areas of partnership in the county to continue supporting the county in the development journey.

The Ndengu Revolution launched in October 2017 by Governor Charity Ngilu saw farmers harvest an estimated 49,000,000 kilos from the December rains.

The commitment was inspired by the need to make Kitui a food producer from a perpetual food aid dependent county where residents queued for long hours at camps awaiting relief food.
