The county ministry of health and sanitation has today embarked on a capacity building exercise for staff and administrators on matters oxygen handling and maintenance.
Facilitated by the Clinton health access initiative, CHAI, the exercise intended to impact knowledge on the technical aspects around handling oxygen gas and all equipment facilitating it’s use .
Speaking during the training session, health and sanitation CeCM, Dr. Winnie Kitetu called upon the beneficiaries of the training to ensure they impacted the knowledge to other staff to ensure full utilization of the resource that is Oxygen gas.
Further she called upon the global health initiative to consider setting up an oxygen plant in any of the health facilities within Kitui County, a move she said would go a long way in alleviating the health situation in the county.
Later in the day, Dr. Kitetu also convened with the county health management team, CHMT, alongside PATH officials in accessing tools for integrated management of childhood illness , TIMCI . Through this project the county intends to accelerate availability, adoption and scale up of tools to identify severe illness and decrease mortality in children under 5 years of age.
PATH is an international NGO whose mission is to advance health equity through innovation and partnerships globally.
Accompanying the minister was Mrs. Christine Sammy, the county newborn and child health coordinator.
