The world environment day (WED) was marked at Kwa Vonza, Kitui Rural sub county in style, the important environment day is annually celebrated in June 5th.
The event themed beat plastic pollution was held at kwa Vonza, the Important event was led by Kitui executive Member for environment Hon Richard John Mwendandu on behalf of Governor Malombe.
The event aims at encouraging awareness and action for the protection of the environment and beating Plastic pollution ,the TCD Digital Report
Kwa vonza MCA hon Mark Ndingo, Kitui County Chamber of Commerce CEO Mr Musili, CARITAS, KDC, NEMA, KFS, WCK, KWTA, Kenya water towers agency officials among other officials attended the event .
It is supported by many non- governmental organizations, businesses, government entities, and represents the primary United Nations outreach day supporting the environment a platform for raising awareness on environmental First held in 1973, it has been issued as marine pollution, overpopulation, global warming, sustainable development and wildlife crime.
World Environment Day is a global platform for public outreach, with participation from over 143 countries annually. Each year, the program has provided a theme and forum for businesses, non-government organizations, communities, governments and celebrities to advocate environmental causes.
This year’s theme is “Beat plastic pollution.” The Ministry of Energy, Environment, Climate Change, Forestry, Natural and Mineral Resources plans to commemorate the World Environment Day on the 5th June this year in partnership with other stakeholders.
