Kitui Making Tremendous Strides in sustainable health development Goals


The Kitui county ministry of Health and Sanitation is making tremendous strides to achieve the Sustainable Development Goal(SDG) 3:3:2 “By 2030, end preventable deaths of newborns, with all countries aiming to reduce neonatal mortality to at least as low as 12/1000 live births”.

To achieve this SDG the department of Neonatal and Child Health in the county has rolled out Neonatal resuscitation programme to train health care workers in the county.

Speaking while contacting the training at Kitui County Referal Hospital, the head of Neonatal and Childhealth coordinator in the county, Christine Sammy alluded that the training aims at equiping all health workers in the county with knowledge and skills in newborn resuscitation thus reducing perinatal and neonatal deaths in the county.

The training is conducted to health workers in the 390 health facilities across the county with support from USAID Afya Halisi.
