Kitui Deputy Governor and CECM for Tourism, Hospitality and Game Reserves, Augustine Kanani, has officially opened a capacity building training for hotel staff aimed at improving service delivery and boosting the county’s tourism sector.

The training, held at the Multipurpose Hall in Kitui Central, seeks to equip hospitality workers with modern skills and service excellence techniques to meet both local and international standards. The exercise has brought together stakeholders from the Tourism Fund and Tseikuru National Polytechnic, with Kitui becoming the 17th county to benefit from the nationwide hospitality training programme.

A similar program is concurrently underway in mwingi for hotel staff in the Mwingi region.Speaking during the opening session, Kanani emphasized the importance of skills development and professional certification in raising the standards of the local hospitality industry.“Acquiring these skills and certifications will enhance service delivery in the hotel industry and, in turn, boost tourism in the county.

With the recent launch of the Kitui Tourism Circuit, our workforce must be prepared to deliver world-class service that places Kitui on another level” he said.He further noted that under Governor Dr. Julius Malombe’s administration, the County Government of Kitui continues to prioritize initiatives that strengthen the tourism value chain through strategic partnerships and capacity-building programmes.

These efforts, he said, aim to empower the hospitality workforce, attract more visitors, and position Kitui as a preferred tourism destination in Eastern Kenya.
