Kitui Health CEC Dr Kitetu to Officiate World Blood Donor Day



The Kitui CEC in charge of Health and Sanitation, Dr Winnie Kitetu, will on Tuesday June 14, 2022 officiate blood drive exercise to mark this year’s World Blood Donor Day.

This year’s theme is “Donating blood is an act of solidarity, Join the effort and save lives.”

Kitetu, will also unveil a vehicle donated to the ministry by Kenya National Blood Transfusion Service (KNBTS).

Speaking to members of the press in her office, the ministry boss urged members of the public and county staff from various ministries to come out inlarge numbers to voluntarily donate blood, because without enough blood patients cannot survive surgeries, chronic disease, cancer treatment and traumatic injuries.

The drive is supported by Kenya Red-Cross Kitui, Huduma center Kitui and Kenya National Blood Transfusion Service (KNBTS).

The event will take place at Kitui County Referral Hospital grounds starting from 8am.
