Kitui Dep Governor Dr Wathe Nzau Mourns Namesake & academic giant Late Dr Wathe Mwangangi

Prolific Kitui Deputy Governor Dr. Wathe Nzau is mourning the demise of his fellow scholar Dr. Wathe Mwangangi.

The late, until his demise was working with the County Government of Nairobi as the Head of Procurement Do, the COUNTY DIARY reports.

Dr. Wathe Nzau and the late Dr. Mwangangi schooled together right from primary school to the University of Nairobi.

They were classmates at Munyuni Primary School in the coal-rich;Mui Ward, Mwingi Central, Kitui County.

They took their Certificate of Primary Education (CPE) together, where Dr. Wathe Nzau proceeded to Kitui high school while the late Dr. Mwangangi went to St Charles Lwanga.

The two academicians would later cross roads again at the prestigious University of Nairobi.

“Kitui County has lost a gallant son of the soil who inspired thousands of academia in Kitui and the entire country”, Dr. Wathe Nzau has said.

“Besides being a relative, Dr. Wathe Nzau described the late Dr. Mwangangi as an inspiration to many in the academic and social-political world”.

The family of Kitui deputy Governor and the family of Dr mwangangi are very close and call each other “Syitwa” meaning namesake in Kamba dialect, Wathe revealed.

The Deputy Governor Dr Wathe has sent his condolences to the family of Dr Mwangangi, the people of Mui ward, Mwingi central sub-county, and Kitui county at large.

Dr Wathe Nzau disclosed that the county government of Kitui and the county government of Nairobi will liaise with the Ministry of Health for the burial logistic for the fallen academic giant.

Dr Mwangangi was an inspiration to many in higher education and has moulded thousands of young people across the country.

Dr Mwangangi was a part-time lecturer at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology.
