Kitui Deputy Governor Dr. Wathe Nzau later on 14th March 2019 Met The Green Kenya Initiative trust representatives at his office kitui town.

The team was led by Shakespeare Ariwi Onyango from National Government, Ministry of Treasury. and Kenya director of museums Madam Beth Syengo.

The team paid a courtesy call to the office of the Deputy Governor on Thursday afternoon and discussed more of their development programs.

The green economy program it a vision 2030 flagship projects under the Climate change finance unit.

The program is funded by National Government parastatal under the treasury department.

The Green economy flagship program has partnered with a local organization called Kenya Network of Grassroots women (KENGROW) Headed by Madam Beth syengo,
who was appointed Kenya Museum director by the HE President Uhuru Kenyatta recently?

The teams seek to partner with the local organization and County governments
which have put in place good environmental mitigation and conservation measures.

Kitui County was among the few selected counties because of the successful charcoal banning and sand harvesting.

Under the same program, the Project is also looking for Green Environment Champions in Kitui County.

Under the leadership of kitui Governor Ngilu, kitui has been chosen to pilot the green economy program, owing to her environmental conservation measures.
