Kitui County to boost Own-source Revenue Collection from sale of ballast

Kitui County is Set to boost her own-source revenue collection from sale of ballast, Says Trade Executive Member Miss Kilonzi.

Kitui County will boost sale of ballst from The Kitui County Ballast Crusher located at Kwa Kilui, Kitui Rural Sub County.
A flagship of Governor Charity Ngilu, the Ballast crusher is estimated to bring in hundreds of millions of shillings in revenue that will then be reinstated in other sectors of the Economy such as health care, water, education, roads and youth and women empowerment programs.


This was revealed by Chief Executive Committee Member for Trade,Cooperatives and Investments Esther Kilonzi when she toured the KICOYDEC Kanyonyoo site where the ballast yard is set to be located.

“Kanyonyoo is best suitable for the market since it geographically links Embu, Thika, Machakos, Tharaka Nithi among other counties and a bigger market for the product” said Ms Kilonzi.

Ms Kilonzi also toured the Mwingi slaughter house, to asses its state and capacity in order to improve it to a state of the art modern slaughter house.
She added that Mwingi area being livestock rich zone and being a livestock corridor will greatly benefit from the slaughter house.

She noted that Mwingi slaughter house will be one of the key destinations for the Kitui County Livestock carrier programs which will be rolled put soon.

Accompanied by the Director of Trade Mr Fidhelis Mwaniki, the CECM also inspected ongoing works at the KICOTEC branch in Mwingi and was impressed by the progress citing that soon the site will be completed and will produce more job opportunities for youths in the larger Mwingi.
