Kitui County will benefit from Green Climate Change Fund, an initiative that will create more than 5 000 jobs directly to youths and women,
The meeting attended by governors from 4 counties, ie, Kitui, Makueni, Machakos and Kajiado this morning at Maanzoni, the governors have welcomed the initiative that will spend Ksh 4.5B in the 4 counties.
The initiative is basing on enhancing Land-based Adoptions and Resilient Green Economy in the counties and advocating for Climate change agriculture. The plan will see more than 10 million trees planted, the establishment of woodland lots, develop planting materials, the establishment of carbon-neutral water harvesting systems among other areas of value chain addition as well as establishing market linkage and Capacity Building.
The community direct benefit, Green Climate Change Initiative in the next 5yrs of operation in the concerned parties will have 8000 households in every county fully benefit directly and have positively impacted their livelihoods , 500 000 people able to access climate change info for climate change agriculture, 50 Community enterprises well connected to national and international markets for their farm produce, resilient and sustainable livelihoods of 57 250 persons, 25 000 direct jobs, a and an increase of water harvested to 10M cubed Metres in the four counties within the next 5 yrs of operation.
