Kitui county ranked top in development spending

Kitui county government led by Kitui Governor HE Ngilu was among the Best counties feted by controller of budget over her fiscal prudence in county allocation utilization, having spend a huge chunk of its allocation on development matters.

According to latest media reports , kitui was top county in matters of utilization of approved funds for development and proper allocation of county monies in the budget making process.

Kitui county got 9.1b and spent 3.3b on development and 5.8b on recurrent expenditure, posting the best in county allocation utilization.

Kisumu county government got 6.4b , spent 669 Million on development and the rest 5.7 billion on recurrent expenditure.

Nakuru county government got total of 9.9b and spent 8billion on recurrent expenditure and 1.6 on development.

Turkana County government got total of 8.1b , spent 1.9 billion on development and 6.2 on recurrent expenditure.

Nandi county government got total of 4.8b spent 717 million on development and 4.1 billion on recurrent expenditure.

Recently, Kitui county was highly ranked on accountability and transparency by International Budget Partnership(IBP) and selected by the National Treasury as one of the pilot counties on financial reporting matters due to the reforms initiated by the County Government.

The county governments has been advised by the controller of budget to benchmark with kitui county on proper management of county allocation utilization.
