Kitui County Gvt workers Union Holds Annual General Meeting

Kitui county Government workers held their annual meeting on Saturday at a multipurpose hall in Kitui town

The meeting was led by Kitui workers union branch officials, the team anonymously agreed to forge unity among workers in support of the county government of Kitui five agendas of the governor, it’s only a few weeks where The governor had met the Union officials.

The Governor has shown the good will to work with union and implement workers grievances according to the union chairman Stephen Kitheka who spoke to the county diary.

The union officials have called upon national government treasury to release salary for staffs on time and avoid unnecessary delays.

The allowances for workers ought to be paid on time, The fund made for training of staffs in the budget should benefit all workers regardless of their working stations, the chairman said

The workers have called upon the National government not to implement 1.5 per cent of housings because no public participation was done. secondly, most of the workers receive less than ten thousand which cannot sustain hard economic being experienced.

Lapfund and laptrust pension fund have been mismanaged and we urge board members to reinstate county representative who had been replaced with National government representatives, yet not contributors of funds.

lastly, we as union officials thank the governor Ngilu for listening to us M.r Kitheka added.

M.r Kitheka revealed that the Governor has agreed to pay salary arrears and leave allowances owed by defunct local authorities to next financial year 2019/2020
