On thursday, May 4, 2023 -Kitui County Minister for Trade, Industry, MSMEs, Innovation & Cooperatives Rose Mutuku yesterday paid a courtesy call on the Principal Secretary for Industry in the Ministry of Investments, Trade & Industry Dr. Juma Mukhwana at his Nairobi office.
The meeting discussed various areas of intergovernmental collaborations including:
– Establishment of a working relationship towards realization of county aggregation and industrial parks;
– Implementation strategy for the aggregation & industrial parks; and
– Resource mobilization and marketing strategies.
The County government of Kitui is implementing the county aggregation and industrial parks (CAIPs) in conjunction with the national government’s Investments, Trade and Industry Ministry.
CECM Mutuku also briefed PS Dr. Mukhwana on the value chains the county administration has identified for promotion among them those of cereals and pulses, meat and meat products, leather and leather products, horticulture, apiculture, cotton as well as herbs and spices.
She was accompanied by Chief Officers Stephen Makau Musili (Trade, Industry, MSMEs & County EIZs) and Paul Ngei Monyi (Cooperatives & Citizen Group Economic Empowerment Initiatives), among other senior officers from the County Trade Ministry.
