Members of the County Assembly on Friday 24th March, 2023 concluded their inspection exercise on the status of county government projects.
The exercise which kicked off on Monday that week, saw the county reps tour the 8 sub counties to inspect various projects, the TCD reported.
Group one led by Waita MCA Hon. Kasungi Kavula made its first stop at the office of MCA Mwingi Central where they paid a courtesy call, before heading to Mwingi level 4 hospital.
Members established that the facility’s morgue freezers are not functional, the mother-Child unit which was started during the first regime stalled and that the surgical amenity ward which was done by the county government is not equipped. The facility also lacks a blood transfusion unit.
Later, the team headed to Enziu dispensary in Waita ward and established that the facility has only one nurse, lacks water, some maternity beds were transferred to another facility and that part of the roof has been blown off. The facility also lacks latrines for both staff and patients.
Group two led by Hon. Sammy Musili Munyithya (MCA Kivou Ward) visited Ithumbi dispensary and found out that the dispensary is not operational and that equipment delivered to the facility was later transferred to Mwingi level 4 hospital.
Later, the team visited Ikuuni vocational training centre and observed that the centre has limited space for expansion and that it has inadequate workshops.
Hon. Judith Wanza (MCA Nuu Ward) led group three to Nuu ward where they inspected Nuu level 4 hospital and mortuary and later the delegation toured Mwola water project.
Honourable members will collate their findings and prepare a report for tabling and deliberation at the County Assembly.
