Kitui Assembly Approves 3 MBR of Selection Panel, Disqualifies 2

The Assembly has this afternoon overwhelmingly approved a Motion on the Adoption of the Appointments Committee Report on the Vetting of Nominees to the Selection Panel nominated pursuant to Section 58A of the County Governments Act, 2020 as moved by the Majority Leader, Hon. Peter Kilonzo, Athi Ward and seconded by the Minority Leader, Hon. Alex Nganga, Miambani Ward.

Having considered the academic credentials, professional training, work experience, integrity and background of all the nominees and pursuant to the provisions of Section 58A of the County Government (Amendments) Act, 2020, the Committee approved the nominees to the Selection Panel as follows;

  1. Mr. Nichodemus Ivuti Kisengese – Chairperson
  2. Mr. Marcs Ngele Kilonzo – Member
  3. Ms. Charity Kathathi Musyoka – Member

The committee observed that the nominee, Ms. Linah Ngute Kilonzi is currently working for the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (I.E.B.C.) which is a public institution and not a private institution contrary to Sec. 58A of the County Governments (Amendments) Act, 2020 and therefore disqualified her.

The Committee also disqualified Mr. Morris M. Kimuli as he did not provide the required clearance from Credit Reference Bureau and the Higher Education Loans Board.
