Kicotec To Offer Free Facemasks To all Learners,Ngilu assures Kitui Parents

On Sunday, October 11, 2020 – Kitui Governor H.E Charity Kaluki Ngilu said – Kitui County Textile Centre will offer free face masks to all learners across the county resuming studies on Monday, The COUNTY DIARY Reports.

The county will support schools to meet the set standards by the Ministry of Health following Education CS Prof. Magoha’s announcement on school reopening.

The move is inspired by the Ministry’s directive that schools observe mandatory requirements to ensure safety of learners.

Speaking at KICOTEC today when she met the education leadership in the county, Governor Ngilu said the county will launch the mask distribution (200,000 facemasks) to schools on Wednesday 14th.

“We are going to use resources available to support schools with masks, sanitizers and non contact thermo guns to enable learning” she said.

Noting that the national government’s allocation per learner is inadequate during the pandemic (sh.137), the Governor said the county will support schools with Kitui made hand sanitizers during the pandemic saying she is live to growing the local made products.

The Governor said her administration is keen on innovation to ensure many products are produced locally thus increasing use of local products and reduce expenditure on imports.

Kitui KNUT Executive secretary Mr Ndingo said the leadership of KNUT Union will Work closely with Kitui Governor Charity and thanked her for offering free face masks to all learners and teachers across Kitui county.

KUPPET Executive Secretary Mr. Mutia said there is need to support the county’s plan to grow the local economy through the buy Kitui build Kitui initiative in the journey to “walk the path of development and growth”.
