Kericho gets PPES from KENYA Covid-19 response Team



    The Kenya Covid-19 fund Board in conjunction with Equity Bank has donated and delivered Personal Protective Equipments (PPEs) to support Covid-19 response team.

    The brief ceremony held at County government Headquarters was officiated by Kericho Deputy Governor Susan Kikwai ,Equity Bank Health General Manger Joan Korir ,Kericho CEC in charge of Health Shadrack Mutai among other health officials who were present at the event.

    “We want to appreciate the donations recieved today from the Kenya Covid-19 fund Board together with Equity Bank foundation,this is a limelight unwering support to curb the spread of the disease”,Deputy Governor said.

    She also added that Kericho county covid response team are alert to respond to any emergency services once reported.

    According Equity Health General Manager ,Joan Korir said the PPEs will be distributed to 68 public hospitals which was earlier identified by the ministry of health for a period of 18 months to support the programme.

    “We have handed PPEs kits which includes disposal gowns , surgical masks ,N95 respirator masks , nitrile gloves ,head/hair covers,shoe covers and gumboots worth shillings 237 Million Kericho county and we urged the health workers to utilize and use the products wisely”, Korir said.

    She also said PPEs kits have been approved by the Kenya Bureau of standards ( KEBS)and International standards (British standards , European standards ) and Ministry of Health since the manufacturers were educated before the production process began .

    “The covid-19 fund hospital liason committee committee which constitutes representatives from Equity Bank, Kenya Medical Association KMA ,Kenya Medical Practitioners Pharmacist and Dentist Union (KMPDU) ,Nurses Association among others have been nominated to oversee the proper usage of and consistent supply of commodities to the health workers”, Korir added.

    Korir said the Covid-19 fund Board and Equity Group has set aside shillings 85 Million to facilitate physchosocial and case management training of over 50,000 Health care workers dealing with Covid-19 .

    County government of Kericho became among the beneficiaries of the PPEs kits worth shillings 1.6 Million in the first patch of the process.
