The Kanini KEGA led faction have come out to defend their promenade in the jubilee party, cries foul in equal measure as Ex-President Uhuru Kenyatta takes over Jubilee party party.
The former president has refused to retire from an active section of leaders from Kenya kwanza and urged him to hang his boots.
The meeting that was held on Monday at Ngong Racecourse was not a Jubilee Party National Delegates Convention, kanini Kega led team say.
“As you are aware the Internal Disputes Resolution Committee (IDRC) in its ruling dated 18th May, 2023 stayed and suspended the notice issued by H.E. Uhuru Kenyatta and
published in the print media on 19th May, 2023 pending the hearing and determination of a dispute challenging the legality of the purported NDC.
Therefore, the meeting held today and purported to be a NDC is of no legal consequence.
The following officials namely, Hon. Sabina Chege (Ag. Party Leader), Hon. Kanini Kega (Ag. National Secretary General), Mr. Nelson Dzuya (National Chairperson) Hon. Joshua
Kutuny, the National Deputy Secretary General and Ms. Wambui Gichuru (National Executive Director), remains in office notwithstanding the political pronouncements made in the said meeting.
Further, you will recall that the National Disciplinary Committee found Hon. Jeremiah
Kioni and Hon. David Murath is guilty of indiscipline in their decisions that were ratified by the National Executive Committee (NEC) on 19th May, 2023 effectively expelling them
from the membership of the party.
In accordance with Article 6.1.F of the party constitution they ceased to be members of Jubilee on 19th May, 2023.
The participation by the said former officials in any Jubilee activity is of no consequence and is not binding on the party. We wish to inform our MCA’S who have received any communication from the former Secretary General to ignore such communication.
It is unfortunate that the former President has chosen to be on the wrong side of history by defying legitimate decisions of party organs and more so he ceased being the Party Leader of Jubilee Party on 14th March 2023, as per section 6 of the Presidential Retirement Benefits Act he has no power to call or chair any Party meetings.
Such Impunity is unacceptable and illegal and taints the reputation of the office of the retired president.
The party will not shy from taking further disciplinary action against the
former party leader in order to restore its integrity and reclaim its rightful place in the country.
We call upon our members to be patient as we await the determination of the IDRC on the aforesaid dispute after which the NEC will meet to execute it mandate relating to the
convening of a special NDC pursuant to its resolutions passed on 10th February 2023.
We expect that a properly convened SNDC will be held not later than 15th July, 2023.
Signed:
Hon. Kanini Kega,
Ag. National Secretary General.
