On February 18, 2021 – Governor Charity Ngilu on afternoon joined Members of County Assemblies from Machakos, Kitui and Makueni Counties for a BBI consensus meeting.
Convened by Wiper Leader, Dr. Stephen Musyoka, the meeting sought to rally the members of Assembly towards adopting the Building Bridges Initiative Bill once tabled in their respective counties.
In her remarks, Governor Ngilu called upon the leaders to take up civic education duties to ensure that the Local Mwananchi understood BBI and the benefits that will be enjoyed once the proposed amendments are adopted.
She further challenged them to offer leadership that positively impacts the lives of their constituents over a long period of time.
In his remarks, Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka promised the leaders to be sure that once adopted, BBI will ensure that counties are allocated more funds, a move that will help the assembly members to actualize on the promises they made to their electorate.
The meeting was attended by Speakers George Ndotto, Florence Mwangangi, Douglas Mbili from Kitui, Machakos and Makueni Counties respectively and Wiper Party allied members of County Assemblies from the 3 counties that make up the SEKEB Economic Bloc.
