Wiper Party Leader Hon. Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka has officially accepted the party’s endorsement to contest the presidency in the 2027 General Election, vowing to “restore hope, dignity, and stability” to the nation.
Speaking during the Wiper Patriotic Front National Delegates Conference at Uhuru Park, Nairobi, Kalonzo delivered a fiery speech that blended gratitude, resolve, and sharp criticism of President William Ruto’s administration.
“With a deep sense of duty and high resolve, I accept your nomination to be your presidential candidate for the 2027 General Election. I accept it with a full and grateful heart,” Kalonzo declared amid cheers from thousands of delegates and supporters.
In a wide-ranging address, the former Vice President painted a grim picture of the current state of the nation, accusing the Kenya Kwanza government of overtaxing citizens, mismanaging the economy, and betraying public trust.
“Kenyans are overtaxed, underpaid, and overburdened. We pay taxes for services we never receive — no jobs, no medicine, no food, and no relief,” he said. “This is not taxation for development; it is taxation for the survival of a few who know Ruto.”
Kalonzo also took aim at government corruption, mounting public debt, and the controversial Social Health Insurance Fund (SHIF), describing it as “a consequential threat to Kenyans’ well-being.”
He promised that under his administration, Kenya would transition into a 24-hour working economy, lower the cost of living, and create jobs for the youth.
“Professionalism, not Rutoism, will get you a job,” he said, pledging to reform education, healthcare, and youth enterprise programs.
The Wiper leader further vowed to restore justice and accountability, end police brutality, and unite Kenyans across all communities.
Kalonzo was flanked by several senior leaders and political allies, including Second Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, Hon. Martha Karua, Hon. Eugene Wamalwa, Dr. Fred Matiang’i, and Speaker Emeritus Justin Muturi, who attended the event as “Special Observers.”
In a call to action, Kalonzo urged Kenyans—especially the youth—to register and vote in 2027, saying the ballot would be their most powerful weapon for change.
“Ruto ordered for you to be shot in the legs because you dared to protest. I urge you to shoot Ruto at the ballot,” he said, rallying the crowd with chants of “WANTAM! KOMBOA KENYA!”
The declaration sets the stage for a major political showdown in 2027, as Kalonzo Musyoka positions himself as the face of a united opposition front against President William Ruto’s government.
