Industrialization is the way to go for counties – Ngilu Counties must embrace industrialization to realize meaningful growth besides providing long-term solutions to problems facing Kenyans, Governor Charity Ngilu has said.

She said investing in local industries can create thousands of jobs for young men and women. Governor Ngilu spoke when she joined her Ukambani counterparts Dr Alfred Mutua and Prof Kivutha Kibwana for the official opening of Makueni grain value chain plant at Makindu town The county boss regretted that lack of visionary leadership was to blame for slow paced development in devolved units.

She further commended Governor Kibwana for setting up the value addition plant to help Makueni people realize optimum benefits from their pulses, saying that such establishments will create wealth for constituents and greatly mitigate unemployment.

The trio are on a high voltage campaign trail of Ukambani to drum up support for Azimio la Umoja Movement and Raila Odinga’s presidential bid in the countdown to the August 9 General Election.

Ngilu expressed in Raila’s imminent presidency which she affirmed would put in place policies to promote equitable distribution of national resources, equal opportunities for all Kenyans and shared prosperity.
