Susan Waititu, wife of former Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu has filed for a divorce barely a week after her husband Ferdinand Waititu’s removal from office. This move comes at a time the Waititu family is faced with financial constraints following the freezing of accounts associated to the former governor, as well as claims the government is plotting a move to seize all the property associated to the former county boss.
During his impeachment hearing at the senate, Waititu told the House that Susan was not his wife and that he had no association with her whatsoever, as such he should not be punished for any sins she had committed.
The troubled Waititu is increasingly getting isolated. In a video that has since gone viral on social media, former Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu was spotted on Sunday being a stark contradiction of his former self. Waititu, dejected and lonely, had no trappings of power he used to enjoy while in office. He had no bodyguards or an entourage, nobody could recognize his presence in public.
James Karanja Nyoro, who was the Deputy Governor was officially sworn in as the new Kiambu Governor on Thursday. This officially kicked out Ferdinand Waititu and threw him to political oblivion. This also makes Waititu the first governor in the history of Kenya to be successfully removed from office.
