On Friday, May 20, 2022 – Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu has urged the church to be at the forefront in championing for transformative governance ahead of the August 9 polls.
Addressing Kenya Anglican Men Association meeting at Kitui’s ACK Cathedral, Ngilu termed the church as an integral and discerning stakeholder in the country’s leadership.”The church has a responsibility to steer Kenyans into the right political direction for the benefit of the citizenry,” she said.
The Governor expressed confidence in Rt Hon Raila Odinga’s zeal and will to shepherd the nation into the third liberation which is economic in nature.”The former Prime Minister has really fought for the social, political and economic rights of Kenyans.
He is a true embodiment of the kindIIf leadership Kenya yearns for,” noted the county boss.
The Governor affirmed that with Mr Odinga at the helm of Kenya’s leadership, every part of the country will benefit from equitable distribution of national resources, enhanced opportunities for professionals and shared prosperity.
Machakos ACK Bishop Joseph Mutungi, who presided over the meeting, called for peace and political tolerance in the countdown to the national elections.
Bishop Mutungi also urged politicians to conduct campaigns devoid of incitement noting elections should not be used to polarise the country.
Also present was the Kitui ACK Archdeacon Vicar General Robert Wambua.
