Iconic Kitui Governor Hon Charity Ngilu, buoyed by the need to upgrade service delivery in Kitui, has suspended the Minister in charge of Environment and Natural Resources Hon John Muneeni Makau.
Although there was no official communication from The Office of the Governor, details have emerged that the minister was relieved of his executive duties according to the Narc MCA who spoke to COUNTY DIARY in anonymity.
“The Governor has veto power over renumeration. The argument that he was fit to serve is neither here nor there” our informer quiped without elaborating.
It will be remembered Makau, the ertswhile minister incharge of the powerful environment ministry, and who is lawyer by profession had successfully enforced the Governor’s Ban on notorious charcoal and sand harvesting in Kitui.
It was Makau who successfully fought the dreaded charcoal cartels and in the process.As a result, the lawyer found himself battling myriad court cases from the sand harvesting gangs.
And as they say, misfortunes never come singly – as if adding salt to the injury, the Minister was involved in road accident last week.
