On Tuesday, 16th May, 2023 – Kitui Agriculture and Livestock County Executive committee Member Dr. Stephen Kimwele Mbaya attended a County Steering Group (CSG) meeting for the Green Entrepreneurship Project (GREENPARK project), chaired by Kitui Deputy Governor Augustine Kanani.
GREENPARK project is being implemented in Kitui and Makueni counties by Resource Conflict Institute (RECONCILE) – a regional policy research and advocacy NGO – in partnership withGerman private aid agency Welthungerhilfe (WHH) and Caritas-Kitui.
The project targets to promote the “Green” economic growth and consequently improve employment and income of rural economies through application of sustainable production and consumption patterns.
In his remarks, the Deputy Governor encouraged farmers to adopt drought tolerant crops citing the prevailing erratic rainfall patterns in the county arising from climate change among other factors.
The meeting was co-chaired by the County Commissioner, Erastus Mbui.
