Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu on 1st August attended the requiem mass for the late Bomet Governor Dr. Joyce Laboso.
Speaking at the prayer meeting at the All Saints Cathedral in Nairobi today, Governor Ngilu said the country had lost a prominent, committed and focussed leader who rose through different ranks of leadership against all odds.
Ngilu decried a great loss in the country’s women leadership saying the late Laboso left a visible gap.
“Today is a sad day for this country at large. We’ve lost a great and an exceptional leader. We pray that God grants the family the fortitude to bear the loss”. Ngilu eulogized.
She called on the succeeding Bomet Governor to appoint a woman Deputy Governor and commit to achieving the development plan the late Governor initiated.
The late Laboso served as Sotik MP for two terms, the Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly and as Governor among other senior positions in her leadership life.
