Kitui County Governor Dr. Julius Malombe has joined Kenyans in mourning the passing of former Prime Minister and ODM Party Leader, Rt. Hon. Raila Amolo Odinga, who passed away in India at the age of 80.
In his condolence message, Governor Malombe expressed deep sorrow, describing Raila as a true patriot and a champion of democracy, human rights, and good governance.
“His demise is a great loss to the Kenyan nation, where his legacy has been etched through the struggle for human rights and democratic governance. Rt. Hon. Raila Odinga has also been a leading proponent of devolution and a true nationalist who always agitated for a Kenya where social justice and the rule of law prevailed,” Malombe said.
The governor extended his condolences to Raila’s family, friends, and supporters, noting that Kenya has lost one of its most visionary leaders.
“On behalf of my family and the people of Kitui, I convey my heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and relatives. May the Almighty God rest his soul in eternal peace,” he added.
Raila Odinga’s death marks the end of an era in Kenya’s political history, with tributes pouring in from leaders across the country and beyond.
