Governor HE Ngilu Announce fumigation of Kitui Towns


Disinfection of Kitui Town starts this evening as one of the infection control measures against the COVID-19 pandemic, the COUNTY DIARY Reports.

The exercise will start at kitui Market before moving to Kunda Kindu, Majengo, Mjini, Bus park among other crowded & recently crowded zones.

The Public Health Chief Officer has urged members of the public to cooperate with public health officers while carrying out the spraying exercise.

This comes after The County Response team on COVID-19 met with kitui Governor on Wednesday to discuss the report on the progress of measures taken to curb the spread of the COVID-19 virus.

During the meeting, chaired by Governor Charity Ngilu, it was agreed further measures to be explored to mitigate the effect of COVID-19. The County government will commence fumigation of the public places in Kitui.
The exercise will kick-off this evening with fumigation of Kitui town. The fumigation initiative is one of the key measures by the county in the fight against the spread of the highly infectious virus.

To this effect, the activity commencing today will extend to other key public places in the county. Public Health Chief Officer says the exercise is continuous and will see open and community spaces in low-income areas sprayed.

The county will continue observing the curfew as directed by President Uhuru Kenyatta and uphold all guidelines by the World Health Organization as the fight against the virus intensifies.

A section of health workers has received required training on handling the COVID-19 cases to ensure safety in our health facilities.
