The Kitui Town’s Service and Site Estate sewage site has been grabbed by a group of people in Kitui County, a former Kitui civic leader Saidi B.Shaban has claimed.
Shaban was the councillor for the Kitui Township Ward in Kitui Central Constituency in 1992-1997. “There are complaints all over about the sewage site’s grabbing.
The site, whose registration number is 4096/430, was set aside for the public by the National Housing Corporation (NHC) in 1987,” Shaban told the media in Kitui Town on Tuesday, July 7, 2020. “I am speaking on behalf of the complainants. And I am talking nothing else other than the truth,” the politician added.
Hon Shaban has warned that they (the public) are going to the Kenya’s Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) over the grabbing. “There are so many land thieves in Kitui,” the former civic leader fumed.
We also want the Environment and Natural Resources Cabinet Secretary Keriako Tobiko to know that the sewage site has been grabbed by public land thieves, the former Kitui Municipal Council councillor further said.
The Service and Site Estate is the largest estate within the Kitui Town. The other estates include the Mjini, Majengo, Mosquito and California.
