I once bought a very nice shoe from a hawker! It was tough and nicely crafted but when I fit on my right foot, it pinched a bit, it was a size smaller than my usual number 42! However, being such a tough and beautiful pair and having had paid some good cash for it, I comforted myself that I would get used to the pinching with time!
After showing off in it for a few weeks, it was obvious the shoes were not fit for me and they were doing harm to my feet! However to give up such a shoe that kept everyone staring was out of question, regardless of how much pain I had to endure! I recently gave it away after I couldn’t bear the pain any longer!
The ego, our public self image is like such a pinching and uncomfortable shoe! It looks awesome on the outside, keeps fooling people and even some may think of stealing it or buying it from us! Its only us, the wearers, who know how much pain and suffering we have to endure to keep up appearances!
