On Friday 12th March 2021- Kitui Deputy Governor Dr Wathe Nzau received 80,000 fingerlings from the state Department on behalf of Kitui County.
The State Department of Fisheries, Aquaculture and the Blue Economy in partnership with Kitui County Government, has started a program of stocking 20 selected Dams in the County with fingerlings(young fish) each receiving 5,000 fingerlings, which is inline with Governor Charity Ngilu’s 1st Agenda in her Manifesto of Food and Water.
This was revealed by *Kitui Deputy Governor Dr Wathe Nzau and the Senior Fisheries Officer in the State Department of Fisheries, Aquaculture and the Blue Economy Samuel Kariuki Ombicha, during the launching ceremony held at Museve Village in Kyangwithya East Ward, where Ngaa Dam was stocked with 5,000 fingerlings
Kyamwangei Dam in Tungutu Village, Kyangwithya West Ward, was another Dam which also received a stock of 5,000 fingerlings.
Mr Samuel Ombicha was representing the Principal Secretary in the State Department of Fisheries, Aquaculture and Blue Economy Dr Francis Ouma.
Also Present was the CECM in the Ministry of Livestock, Apiculture and Fisheries Development Emmanuel Kisangau and the Assistant Director in the Department of Fisheries Development Aggrey Ogolla among other County and National Government Officers.
