Kitui deputy Governor Dr Wathe Nzau Meest Development Partners.

Kitui Deputy Governor Dr Wathe Nzau on behalf of Governor Charity Ngilu today, held a meeting with USAID officers led by the Chief of Party USAID Resilience Learning Activity (RLA) James Flock.

Resilience Learning Activity (RLA) which is a USAID funded initiative to support regional and County level Institutions to conduct resilience learning activities in the Horn of Africa,in Kenya is working in 9 Counties of which 3 were picked from Southern Eastern Kenya (SEK) Counties, Kitui, Makueni and Taita Taveta.

The team was in Kitui today, to brief the Governor on the activities in their program to support the county from October 2021 through September 2022, which were agreed during a series of joint work planning sessions with County Government officers.

Among the activities is to:
•Assist in the design and Development of updating county profiles.
•Assist in designing GIS System portal with county monitoring and evaluation staff.
•County joint work planning.
•Collaborate with NDMA and County Government to improve the early warning system process.
•Strategic research as identified by county officials in September 2021.

On his part Dr Wathe, acknowledged the earlier proactive role played by USAID in the county and requested them to reach other like minded partners to assist in procuring drought resistance seedlings like green grams, to aid in mitigating the social and economic impacts caused by the prolonged drought.

Present was the Ag. County Secretary Madam Agnes Mulewa, Southern Eastern Kenya USAID Coordinator Titus Kyalo and County Director of Communications Denis Omwange.
