Dr. Kaluyu Eulogises Late Senator Hajj as Dad and Mentor
By DR. JEFF KALUYU
TO FAMILY & FRIENDS OF MY FRIEND – NOW LATE SENATOR HAJJ
To many it was sudden, a surprise. To me it was a journey that I walked with my friend, “dad” and mentor. In recent months I have walked his journey of illness and getting updates of his wellness till he left us.
He loved me and I loved him. I grew up when he was in governement until I joined him in leadership visions of this nation. In our last meeting at KICC he told me that he was waiting for my BBI submission- which I did. There is no one I have known to have his kind of love.
The death has not extinguished him, it just put out the lamp so that we can get to know of his love for this nation. But because our lives are like rivers, they eventually go where they must, not where we want. He has gone on to where he has to. No need to cry, all life ends the same way.
It is only the details of how we live and die that distinguish us. He has made his statement of the way he lived and so we will rememeber him. For life and death are one as the river and the sea.
I have a feeling that his journey doesn’t end here. Allow me to be philosophical, life could just be another phase of existence.
What you call death could just be what we are living now who knows where we came from and where we go from here.
That should allow us to have faith and trust in God’s process
For Senator Hajj, life had to end but our love for you will never end. You are still with us papa and no one can steal your good memories.
It is not how long you lived but how good it was to be with you. I guess grief is the price we have to pay for your love.
To me, you were more than just a person. You were a place where I felt at home. What you leave behind is woven into our lives.
Now, mzee Hajj, you are free to fly with the angels. We loved you but God loved you more. Go in peace. Free to go now sir.
