Governor Charity Ngilu was today joined by the Devolution Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa and Makueni County Secretary Paul wasanga at Kiaoni Athi Ward in Kitui South where they distributed iron sheets to families affected by the 2018 floods.
Kitui County Government and the National Disaster Management Authority assisted the affected with foodstuffs, utensils, mattresses and blankets and later formed a committee that identified 75 households as the most affected by the floods last year.
Today, 75 households from Kitui and 72 households from Makueni benefited with 20 Iron sheets each from National Disaster Management Authority and the two County Governments.
Speaking in Athi today, Ngilu called on those above 18 years to acquire ID cards and later register as voters to ensure inclusiveness in resource allocation by the national government.She said the two governments would assist those whose shambas were filled by sand to enable them prepare their farms ahead of the next rainy season.
Devolution CS Eugene Wamalwa lauded the three Ukambani Governors for the development they are doing in the region. ” I want to congratulate the three Governors for their efforts in making devolution a reality. They are among the top perfoming governors”. He said.
The CS lauded the KCHIC program and Makueni UHC saying they are a great achievement in offering affordable healthcare to the residents in the region noting the key role healthcare plays in President Kenyatta’s big four agenda.
