Covid – 19 : Kitui Catholic Priest forced to Self Quarantine

    A priest from Kiara village , Kyangwithya east in Kitui central has been forced to self quarantine by police in Kitui and county health officials.

    Father Maanzo jetted into the country over the weekend from Italy, where he traveled form Italy to US then Kenya.

    His whereabouts came to limelight after word went round in Kitui town that He was spotted in an ATM and one of the supermarkets in Kitui town.

    The romour prompted action from DCI Kitui and county health ministry officials thus visiting his home yesterday 25.04.2020.

    The priest admitted that he visited Barclays {now ABSA} bank ATM and proceeded to one of big supermarket for shopping since he had no stocks in his house.

    The officers from county ministry of health and DCI allowed him to self quarantine, barring him from leaving his house,According to Kitui sub county DCI boss Singi Nzioka, the priest’s movement will be closely monitored by police as health officials monitor his health.

    The priest is said to be healthy and with no signs or symptoms of any disease.
